Tween Camp Program Director

Job Summary

The Tween Camp Program Director reports directly to the Camp Director work with the Tween Camp Operations Director to ensure all aspects of Tween Camp run effectively. 

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

  • The position consists primarily of hands on duties and some administrative work as well. Responsibilities for this position include supervising tween camp staff, daily programming, parent communication, coordination of activities for campers while on JCC grounds, planning special events to support the camp theme of the year and behavior management. Administrative areas of involvement may include, but may not be limited to Tween Camp newsletters, leading Parent Orientation, leading weekly meetings, and evaluating Tween Camp Staff.
  • Works closely with the JCC’s Aquatics Director to coordinate the Tween Camp swimming program and trip swimming.
  • Assists with staff recruitment, training, and supervision.
  • Works closely with the Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director, Tween Camp Operations Director and Unit Heads in coordinating and planning programming and scheduling.
  • Assists Camp Director and Tween Camp Operation Director in completing all necessary paperwork to ensure licensing of the Tween Camp.
  • Meets regularly with the Camp Director and participates in and may lead camp-wide staff meetings.
  • Holds weekly meetings with his/her staff.
  • Assists in maintaining good morale and teamwork amongst the camp staff; helps to build and sustain spirit and enthusiasm amongst the campers and staff; provides leadership in the adherence by campers and staff to all camp and JCC rules, policies, and procedures; helps to establish appropriate camper behavior and effective behavior management techniques; leads by example in the respect of property and the care of equipment and supplies.
  • Accepts appropriate assignments as directed or delegated by the Camp Director or JCC Program Director.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to supervise staff and campers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan, initiate, organize, and carry-out daily and special programs.
  • At least one season of camp administrative experience.
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid Training; and any other certification as required by licensing agencies.
  • Valid New York State Driver’s license.
  • A positive, upbeat spirit, “can do” attitude and great sense of fun!

 

Camp Counselors (Ages 16 and older) 

Counselors are assigned to a group of campers along side two additional counselors.  Responsibilities include supervising campers, engaging in camp activities, planning activities where applicable, assisting with swim lesson, being a positive role model, being flexible and having a positive attitude throughout the camp day.

 Nature Specialist (Ages 18 and older)

Looking for a hardworking reliable staff that has a strong background in nature related programming. Would be responsible for organizing, planning, and leading nature related activities for children ages 3-14. Experience working with children is required. Summer camp experience a plus. Sports Specialist (Ages 18 and older)

Looking for a hardworking reliable staff that has a strong background in sports and games related programming. Would be responsible for organizing, planning, and leading nature related activities for children ages 3-14. Candidate with Physical Education background is preferred. Experience working with children is required. Summer camp experience a plus.  Submit a camp application for consideration.

Counselor Support Staff (Ages 18 and older)

Looking for a hardworking reliable staff that has a background in Special Education. This position is to provide extra assistance to campers that may struggle with the camp day. You would work closely with the Camp Behavioral Consultant. Some responsibilities may include creating and implementing behavior plans, helping campers transition from activity to activity, or helping a campers who may need a break from their group. Experience working with children a must, course work or experience in Special Education preferred. Submit a camp applications for consideration. 

Camp Maintenance (Ages 18 and older)

Looking for a hardworking reliable staff that would assume responsibilities of Camp Maintenance. Some responsibilities include maintaining general camp facilities, delivering lunches, emptying trash, pick up and deliveries for special events, emptying trash, set up for camp events and maintaining cleanliness of camp grounds. Would work closely with JCC Maintenance staff throughout summer. NYS Driver's License is required. Submit a camp application for consideration.
