As great as camp is for the campers, it's an even better place to work. The SJCC will be looking for outgoing, spirited people to work with the children as counselors.

Camp Medical Director

Job Summary

This individual, supervised by the Camp Director, is responsible for the health and safety of the campers and camp staff; and acts as the Safety Officer/Advisor to the Camp Administration. 

 Job Requirements

Current RN, EMT, or LPN certification and at least 21 years of age, with prior experience doing triage and being a first responder.  Previous experience in a camp or school setting or working with children is desirable.  Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.  Must be certified in Responding to Emergencies, First Aid, CPR, and AED.

 Key Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all health forms have been submitted and all required immunizations have been done.
  • Supervision and administration of medication, including insulin and nebulizer treatments, where indicated by health record information.
  • Respond to all emergencies and determine a course of action.
  • Treatment of minor injuries.
  • Triage and assessment of injury and illness situations.
  • Liaison with local medical personnel and emergency services as needed.
  • Maintain daily medical log.
  • Keep medical records up to date.
  • Inventory, maintain, and order medical supplies and equipment.
  • Parent communication, regarding health related issues, as needed.
  • Inform staff of specific camper health needs.
  • Checking-in late arriving campers and checking-out campers being picked up early.
  • Keeps attendance for camp; responsible each day for collecting group attendance records.
  • Main contact for parents’ reporting camper absence.
  • Communicating and assisting Tween Camp staff with illness and injury situations.
  • Keep Camp Director aware of all medical, health, safety, and sanitary issues.
  • Help support our summer staff (health and well being).
  • Form positive relationships with children.

 

Camp Counselors (Ages 16 and older) 

Counselors are assigned to a group of campers alongside two additional counselors.  Responsibilities include supervising campers, engaging in camp activities, planning activities where applicable, assisting with swim lesson, being a positive role model, being flexible and having a positive attitude throughout the camp day.

Camp Counselor Floaters (Ages 18 and older)

Camp Counselors Floaters are staff who floats to different groups and covers absences of other staff, including specialist. Responsibilities may include supervising campers, engaging in camp activities, planning activities where applicable, assisting with swim lesson, being a positive role model, being flexible and having a positive attitude throughout the camp day. This position allows for flexibility in days and hours.

 

Sports/ Tennis Specialist (Ages 18 and older)

Looking for a hardworking reliable staff that has a strong background in physical education. Would be responsible for organizing, planning, and leading sport related activities for children ages 3-14. Candidate would also be responsible for Tennis program which includes implementing a tennis program for students in grades 2nd-6th grade. Candidate with Physical Education background is preferred. Experience working with children is required. Summer camp experience is a plus.  Submit a camp application for consideration.

 

 

Yoga Specialist (Ages 18 and older)

Looking for a hardworking reliable staff that has a strong background in Yoga. Would be responsible for organizing, planning, and leading Yoga instruction for children ages 3-14.  Experience in Yoga instruction is preferred. Experience working with children is required. Summer camp experience a plus.  Submit a camp application for consideration. *Potential for a half day commitment.*

Camp Maintenance (Ages 18 and older)

Looking for a hardworking reliable staff to serve as Camp Maintenance this camp season. Would be responsible for maintaining general maintenance needs, facilitating camp lunches storage and delivery, setting up for special camp events, running supply errands, etc.   Experience working with children is required. Summer camp experience is a plus. There will be interaction with children during the day. Submit a camp application for consideration.
