s we have done with each JCC program that has restarted over the past few months, we will be following New York State and Schenectady County Department of Health guidelines in our fitness center and will do all we can to ensure our members stay safe. With that being said, there are new procedures at the fitness center and here is what to expect when you return:
  • A health and travel screening will be done each time anyone enters our indoor facilities (including staff) to ensure they have not experienced any COVID-19 related symptoms in the previous 72 hours and they have not traveled.
  • Your temperature will be taken at the front desk before you are allowed to enter the fitness center and you must wear a mask at all times, including when you are working out.
  • After your temperature is taken upstairs, please proceed downstairs where you will check in at the Sports & Wellness desk.
  • You must complete a waiver at your first return visit to the fitness center before utilizing our facilities.
  • You must maintain social distancing at all times and clean all machines before and after use.
  • You will be required to make a reservation in advance of arriving at the fitness center. No walk-ins will be allowed. Reservations will be good for one 45-minute time slot and can be made 30 minutes to two days prior to your reservation.
  • To make a reservation for a time slot and equipment, please use the Daxko app and go to schedules, sign up on our website, or call the Schenectady JCC at (518) 377-8803 and a team member will help you.
  • The fitness center will only be open to active members; no guests will be allowed. If you need to reactivate your membership, please call the JCC or contact Budhan Ramcharan at budhanr@schenectadyjcc.org .
  • Locker rooms are open for changing but not for showering.
  • The gymnasium, hot tub, steam room, sauna and fitness center babysitting area remain closed at this time.
  • All fitness classes will continue to be conducted virtually or outdoors.
As a reminder, please stay home and refrain from visiting the JCC if you or anyone in your home is not feeling well. Thank you to all our members in advance for your cooperation as we work together to do all we can to provide you and your family with a safe and fun JCC experience.

 

 

At the SJCC, fitness and wellness are as important to us as they are to our members. Our facilities are some of the best in the area, beginning with our world-class outdoor pool & tennis club and continuing indoors to the state-of-the-art fitness center, indoor pool and full-size gymnasium.

SJCC members can find numerous opportunities to participate in physical activities like basketball, group classes such as Zumba, Tabata and Hydro Fit, and different sports, all at one of the finest facilities in the Capital District.

Our Sports & Wellness staff is dedicated to helping each member reach their specific fitness goals.

Dr. Edwin & Judy Brown Fitness Center

The Dr. Edwin & Judy Brown Fitness Center is filled with cutting edge strength training equipment and includes top of the line personal services that contribute to the health and well being of our members. All of that makes it one of the premier workout spots around.

To meet every one of their workout goals, members can work with a personal trainer or use the facility on their own.

Yulman Indoor Pool

The SJCC has an terrific indoor pool for when the weather turns cold. The Yulman Pool is great for swim lessons, swimming laps or just taking a dip after work or school.

Schaffer Gym

The gym is a great place to stay active, shooting hoops or playing pickleball or lunch-time basketball. The gym is also available for rental for your group. For rental opportunities contact Budhan Ramcharan at 377-8803 

The gym is used by our after school program, summer camp and also houses numerous other activities throughout the week.

Golub Family Pool & Tennis Club

Our outdoor facility is one of the best around, a perfect place to relax in the summertime.

There are four tennis courts for lessons or a game with friends, an outdoor basketball court, 2 sand volleyball courts and fields to play a game of catch.

The pool is great to swim laps or just cool off and the Snack Bar is the perfect place to stop to grab a bit to eat.
