Kathy Levy
SJCC Board of Director

David Posner, a veteran JCC executive, has been selected as the first CEO to lead both the Albany and Schenectady Jewish Community Centers.
In a joint statement, the two JCC presidents, Kathy Levy of Schenectady and Dan Weinberg of Albany said, "we are thrilled to have David join us as we enter an extremely exciting time for both JCCs. Our Boards of Directors recently approved a shared services agreement to implement best practices, programs, and resources which will strengthen both JCCs. David has the necessary experience and skills to work with the joint Collaboration Committee to move that forward."
Under the shared services agreement, both agencies will remain independent with their own boards, but certain operations will be shared to achieve greater efficiencies and excellence. "David's experience leading the JCC in Syracuse, where he created a campus that housed multiple agencies with shared services, and in Queens, NY where he led the Central Queens YM-YWHA, provide our JCCs with the kind of leadership we were seeking," continued Levy and Weinberg. "He also brings the experience associated with having spent 11 years as a senior executive and consultant at JCC Association (JCCA), the continental organization for all JCCs in North America." A significant aspect of his work there was leading the strategic performance team that developed and guided JCCs with the JCC Excellence: Benchmarking project and strategic visioning consultation.
While at JCCA Posner was the lead professional representing the JCC movement through a difficult period in early 2017 when JCCs were the target of multiple bomb threats, including those in the NY Capital Region. "David coordinated the response to national law enforcement agencies, provided guidance for local JCCs in their own responses, was the chief spokesperson for JCCs, and coordinated centralized messaging. This experience will be invaluable as we deal with and emerge from the crisis facing JCCs as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic," said Levy and Weinberg.
"I look forward to the challenge of implementing shared services while maintaining each JCC's unique identity" said Posner. "JCCs provide the kind of experiences that individuals and families value, within both the Jewish and larger community, and guiding this collaboration will be a demanding but rewarding task that I'm very excited about, as well as returning to upstate New York."
Posner holds an MBA from the University of Maryland. He will work out of both JCCs, and starts on Monday, May 18, 2020.
