What is Kid’s Time?

Kid’s Time is an after school program that provides quality care for your elementary school-aged child, in a safe, supportive environment.  At Kid’s Time, the children can utilize the cafeteria, gym, library, and computer rooms when available.

The Kid’s Time Program is being offered at three Niskayuna Elementary Schools; Birchwood, Craig, & Rosendale.  Each site will need a minimum of 25 children per day to operate.  If any of the sites do not reach the minimum amount of enrollment, programs will then be combined, and bussing will be available between the schools from the Niskayuna Transportation Department.

Daily Schedule for Kid’s Time

2:10 p.m. - Children are greeted by the site director and

staff, and offered a nutritious snack.  Children are given the opportunity to unwind with such activities as free time, outside play, board games and so on.

3:00 p.m. - Children are given choices, such as; arts and

crafts, sports, or quiet time in the library.  There is              something for every child to choose from.

4:00 p.m. - Children are offered another choice of

            activities.

5:00 p.m. - Children are served a second nutritious snack

and play games in the cafeteria.

Availability

Kid’s Time is open from the time of school dismissal at 2:10 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.   Kid’s Time offers flexible hours that are convenient for your family.  You may choose to send your child for one half-day (pick-up by 4:00 p.m.) through five full-days (pick-up by 6:00 p.m.)

Half-Days

Kid’s Time provides additional care for children on school half-days.  This is included in your fee, as long as your child is regularly scheduled to attend the program on that day of the week.

School Vacations

School vacation day programs are also available.  These are held at the JCC for an additional charge.  You must pre-register your child for each day you would like him/her to attend.

Kid’s Time Drop-In Program

Drop-In child-care is available to those who do not need child-care on a regular basis, if there is space at that particular site. Before utilizing the Drop-In program, you must register your child at the JCC.  There is a $25 registration fee, and child care is $6.50 per hour.  Once registered, you must give 24 hour notice to the Schenectady Jewish Community Center before requesting the Drop-In program for a particular day.
